Umbraco is generally considered more secure than WordPress out of the box because it runs on the Microsoft .NET framework and has a smaller target profile for automated hacker attacks. WordPress powers a huge portion of the web, which makes it a frequent target for mass cyber exploits through outdated third party plugins. However, both content management systems can be made extremely safe when updated regularly and configured with strong security practices. Umbraco requires professional developer setup, whereas WordPress security relies heavily on user maintenance.
